When losing weight you need to compare the amount of food you are consuming to the amount of calories you are using.
CALORIES IN vs CALORIES OUT.
And the key to dropping body fat…having fewer calories in your body, than what you are burning through out the day.
More often than not, people get caught up in fad diets that DO restrict their calorie intake, but close to the point of starvation.
Although this does work, it is unsustainable for your body operate at such a reduced calorie capacity for an extended period of time. You will see numbers fall off the scales but ask yourself, is it Weight loss or FAT loss you are after?
For example, take the average male who’s basal metabolic rate (BMR) is 2500 calories, the required amount which is needed to sustain oneself day to day. If he was to start a diet of 1200 calories, his body will use that 1200 calories. However, his body needs to find another 1300 calories from somewhere else to to maintain energy levels to get him through the day.
As you can see this is a massive task for the body to find the extra calories! Yes, your body will use its fat stores to burn energy but for how long before it goes into survival and burning muscle for fuel?
